charity / vintage / thrift / w.e you wanna call it.

These are some things I bought during the week amidst my fashion week, wardrobe freak out. They come from my mother's favourite charity shop, its one of the better ones around here.
Grand total: £8

Aforementioned items have accompanied me to LFW as PG never gave me that sponsorship call.

DAY 1 of LFW. Bring it.

TODAY
stolen from Siobhan.

In between stealing clothes from my sister, I have a to-do list the length of me to get through, includig the commencement of two essays. Urgh, not happening.
Skirt: TOPSHOP, Blouse: h&m, Loafers: M&S, Bag and belt: Vintage.
This is a lot easier than a outfit post. Clothes don't have bad face days. I will stop being lazy once this penultimate, deadline week is over.

collar keen.

I haven't exactly hidden my penchant for the peeping / pointed / peter panned detail.

I've had a recent brainwave. Why wear one when you can wear two!? Within reason; as goes for all fashionable experiments.

I caught a glimpse of a girl sporting a washed out, obviously worn denim shirt, (vintage, obviosuly) with a petite, silky, second number peaking out from underneath, on Oxford St., last week. It was cool. I liked.
Do try this at home.
Denim shirt: Vintage, White collar, Super skinny trousers & Carry bag: TOPSHOP, Felt brogues: Primark, Super frilly socks: Urban Outiftters

Currently working on the finishing touches of my first Notion piece, eeeek.

There is still time to enter that giveaway.

where art thou?

Given my prolonged M.I.A period / elusivuty (word?) / general disappearing act, I thought an explanation was warranted. So you guessed it, this is what this is. I come baring no more exciting news than I've been adjusting back into the 'routine' of uni life. No biggie.

I did go to London yesterday however, on an impromptu day trip. Bumbled down New and Old Bond St. expecting to been blown away by the Street Lights exhibition. Alas, I was a day early.

Lace crop, bag and shades: TOPSHOP, Levi cut-offs: Camden, Brogues: New Look.

So there you have it. I promise to be more in tune this week and will be revealing the secret intern shenanigans I got up to, what seems like a lifetime ago.

"Keep it real" - a sixty year old woman farewell'd me with that as me and my sister left her vintage shop on Lancaster Road.

Oh I love that place.

little to report.

As the title suggests; I have no news. Oh, other than waiting on whether or not I have tickets, through an online uni publication I write for, to the first day of London Fashion Week. Fingers crossed but its looking unlikely. Is anyone going?

How convuluted are my outfit posts? I'm going to aim to do three a week, at least, from now on.

Also, this is a cheat. I don't strut around like this on a day-to-day basis. I went to some fifties night last week and we thought we'd be dead cool and attempt to dress in theme. Admittedly, I am def channeling sixties a la Twiggy more than any fifties pin-up. It's all retro nontheless.

Shawl: Brick Lane, Dress and Pearls: Miss Selfridge, Shoes: OFFICE, Socks: New Look, Bag, Camden

I don't know why these are so grainy. Photographic technicalties are by no means my thing.

Oh, I said I was organising a giveaway dint I, wups. Ok then, I shall do it to mark the 200 followers mark. I need twenty-nine more doted followers to reach that milestone. Go on. You know you wanna.

dead to the world.

I had planned to do this on Friday but my camera was outta juice. It was my Little Kirst's twenty first on Thursday night so we standardly put on quite a show. I managed to man up the morning after and throw this together. I am so bored of my wardrobe. I am compiling a wish list as we speak. Someone gimme some dollar dollar cash?

Cardi: Mummy's, Jeans and Pearls: TOPSHOP, Shirt and Bag: Vinatge, Loafers: M&S, Lace Socks: New Look

I have finally had my hair cut, so I am no longer sporting the wannabe ballerina 'do. Although I will miss it.

Thank you again for voting for me in the ELLE intern competition. I am still fifth which in itself I think is a decent achievement. Not to big myself up or anything. One week today and I promise you will hear no word of it. I just really want it and need your support. CHYAZ.

I take back what I said yesterday about the high-street and the flatform. Today on my lunch break, I accidentally ended up in TOPSHOP's shoe lounge (absolute devil, its literally the shop next to my work). Moral of the story; they've jumped on the badwagon. Here they are. I like them. I want them.

Maybe just maybe the flatform trend will actually oust the wedge / platform this year.

LDN on FLM.

As promised - London in pictures. I am more happy snapper than sell-out photographer.

on your bike.

It'd be an understatement to say I was slacking on the blog front as of late. There is no excuse bar neglecting my precious blog for spontaneous city trips and a boozy week in Greece with my girls. I have had my time-off so I promise tokeep up to date from now on. Promise promise promise.

Excuse the lame play on words, couldn't resist.

Mammy suprised me with a revamped genuine article vintage bike today. Photos will come soon!

She was given it when she was my age quote "that's how well I look after my things". It has been sitting in the garage, forgotten about for the last god knows how long but her significant other decided to work his magic at the weekend when I was away. All it needed was a new tyre and a polish. Big up. He has done a kanny job.

The frame is a Raleigh and about twenty five years old. The basket is the only mod-con (oh and the new tyre obvz), the rest; original in all their 80's glory.

I think it's going to be one of those things that's expected to be passed down the family generation after generation.

this modern love.

This article appeared in the last issue of my University Newspaper last month. Enjoy.

Never have John Paul Young’s song lyrics been more true than this summer; love is truly in the proverbial air. That ‘air’ being; the catwalks and the high street. Romance is back with a vengeance. Think pretty pastels, gentle ruffles and lacey trims with all the frills.

My high-street hot spot for this fairytale fashion fix is Miss Selfridge. Admittedly, somewhat hit and miss but it is bang on for enviable romance pieces right now.
Try one of their light-as-air dresses or blouses (or both)on its own or with a pair of staple denim shorts if the hem-line is a bit risque. Don't confine romance to daytime dressing; vamp it up of an evening with statement platforms. Guarenteed to get you the love, or at least a handful of compliments. And with a new branch opening in York's Topshop soon, what better excuse to treat yourself.

Lace is fast becoming a timeless classic; starting off as a mini-trend back in autumn '08 it shows no signs of dissappearing. Lucky for me and you I say. Lace is a lust-have for the romance trend. I bought a lovely white lace shirt from a vintage store in Newcastle recently. Worn with the appropriate undergarments, buttoned up and tucked into a pair of worn denim shorts or thrown over a tea dress it prettyfies any outfit. Be sure to check out the likes of DEEP and Purple Haze for a romantic steal before the end of term.

When it comes to jewellery think delicate and dainty. Quaint vintage boutiques are your best bet if you want a piece that every other person won't have in a few weeks time. Failing that, dig out or invest in the number one jewellery box staple; the string of pearls.

Now for the boys, that's right a masculine take on ‘Romance’ is guaranteed to earn you brownie points with your female associates. Get in touch with your feminine side. The same rules apply except; leave the lace. If pastel skinnies cramp your style try a light coloured tee. Topman's are two for £12 at the moment, plus student discount. The classic deck shoe has had a 'romantic' colouring make-over. Asides from your standard brown and leather numbers, there are an assortment of grey scale pairs on the high streetn ideal for a Summer update.

If you are struggling and find yourself blushing in the mirror with embarrassment and not the usual vanity;then check out Channel 4’s Frock-Me! with Alexa Chung and Henry Holland. Episode five is dedicated to the summer romance trend and has some valuable pointers. Girls like boys who (don't pretend to) know about fashion so see it as killing two birds with one stone so to speak.

Sorted; for a summer of love. You just need that hot summer fling to provide the perfect accessory.
